London Hat Week Exhibition Relocates for October Show

Following the sudden postponement of London Hat Week, due to the coronavirus pandemic, it has been decided to run the static exhibition from the 6^th– 12^thof October 2020.

The Theme for 2020 is: “To the Future and Back”
Rescheduled to open from 8^th– 11^thof October 2020
At The Black Swan Studios, 203 Bermondsey Street, London SE1 3XW

Part of this exceptional millinery gathering for London Hat Week is the large static show arranged and curated by Monique Lee and her team. The title “The Great Exhibition of the Works of Millinery from all Nations” is inspired by ‘The Great Exhibition’, which took place in London in 1851. It was the first in a series of World’s Fairs, exhibitions of culture and industry that became popular in the 19th century. Monique, in her own style, will replicate this amazing event by bringing to London Hat Week an unparalleled exhibition of millinery.

The theme set for 2020, “To the Future and Back”, has greatly inspired global milliners, who have submitted more than 300 designs. From those received 213 have been selected for the exhibition. Unfortunately the Menier Gallery was not available in October, so a new venue in Bermondsey Street has now been confirmed.

This year, for the first time, The British Hat Guild – whose aim is to encourage craftsmanship and artistry in millinery – will present three awards for “Creativity”, Technique” and Wearability”. The presentation will take place on the opening night, now scheduled for Wednesday the 7^thof October, and we look forward to seeing you there!

Last year’s exhibition, held at the Menier Gallery in London, was set to the theme “World Garden”. With a few months ‘interval’ before this year’s event I thought it would be a good opportunity to show some of the exhibits that ‘caught my eye’. Thankfully I also took a note of the designers!
